31st International ALTA Conference

Lithium and Rare Earths

Advances in Extraction, Processing, Separation & Recovery of Critical Minerals

26-27 May 2027

As lithium and rare earth projects move from research and technology development toward commercial production, this conference combines academic research, technology development, pilot-scale studies and commercial project experience across extraction, processing, refining, separation and recycling, with emphasis on emerging technologies, scale-up, process performance, product quality, economics and environmental outcomes. The program will highlight new approaches to improving recovery and efficiency, developing high-purity products, and addressing the technical challenges of moving innovative processes from laboratory and pilot studies into operating plants. Topics will span the lithium and rare earths value chain, from unconventional resources and advanced extraction methods through processing, separation, refining and recovery from secondary resources.

Coverage will include, but is not limited to:

  • Commercial-Scale Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) Technologies and Process Integration
  • Lithium Extraction from Brines, Geothermal and Other Unconventional Resources
  • Advanced Spodumene Processing, Beneficiation, Roasting, and Lithium Recovery
  • Lithium Refining, Purification and Production of Battery-Grade Carbonate and Hydroxide
  • Ionic-Clay and Other Unconventional Rare Earth Extraction and Recovery
  • Advanced Rare Earth Separation and Refining Technologies
  • Development and Scale-Up of New Non-China Rare Earth Processing Capacity
  • NdFeB Magnet Recycling and Recovery of Rare Earth Elements from Secondary Resources
  • Process Development, Modelling and Scale-Up from Laboratory and Pilot Studies to Commercial Operation
  • Improving Recovery, Resource Efficiency, Process Economics, and Environmental Performance

The deadline for priority consideration is 6 November 2026.

All proposals are subject to review by session chairpersons and/or the Scientific Advisory Committee to ensure the overall quality of the conference program. Additionally, as per Cambridge EnerTech’s policy, a select number of vendors and consultants who provide products and services will be offered opportunities for podium presentation slots based on a variety of Corporate Sponsorships.
