Next-Generation Batteries—Mining to Manufacturing

Securing the Battery Value Chain from Critical Mineral Extraction to Advanced Materials, Cell Production & Recycling

26-27 May 2027

As electric vehicles and grid-scale energy storage scale up worldwide, the success of the battery industry increasingly depends on what happens long before a cell is assembled—at the mine, the refinery and the materials plant. This symposium connects the upstream and downstream ends of the battery value chain, bringing together miners, metallurgists, chemical and materials producers, cell manufacturers, recyclers, OEMs, and investors to examine how critical minerals become high-performance batteries. Presentations will address the market outlook and pricing for lithium, nickel, cobalt, manganese, and graphite, along with the policy, offtake, and investment strategies needed to build resilient, diversified supply chains. Technical sessions will cover the conversion of mineral concentrates and brines into battery-grade chemicals, precursor and cathode active materials, graphite and silicon anodes, and the qualification pathway from pilot plant to gigafactory. The program will also look ahead to next-generation chemistries—including sodium-ion, LMFP, solid-state, and lithium-sulfur—and how their adoption will reshape raw material demand and specifications. Closing the loop, speakers will explore black-mass processing, hydrometallurgical and direct recycling, and the carbon accounting and traceability frameworks that underpin a circular battery economy. Don’t miss this opportunity to network across the full mining-to-manufacturing value chain and learn how industry leaders are turning critical minerals into competitive battery supply.

Coverage will include, but is not limited to:

  • Battery Raw Materials Market Outlook—Supply, Demand, and Pricing for Lithium, Nickel, Cobalt, Manganese, and Graphite
  • Supply Chain Resilience, Localisation, Government Policy, and Offtake Strategies
  • Mine-to-Market Integration—From Concentrates and Brines to Battery-Grade Chemicals
  • Lithium Hydroxide and Carbonate Refining, Including Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE)
  • Battery-Grade Nickel, Cobalt, and Manganese Sulphates and Precursor (pCAM) Production
  • Cathode Active Materials—High-Nickel, LFP, LMFP, and Manganese-Rich Chemistries
  • Anode Materials—Natural and Synthetic Graphite, Silicon, and Lithium-Metal
  • Raw Material Requirements for Next-Generation Chemistries—Sodium-ion, Solid-State, and Lithium-Sulfur
  • Materials Qualification, Impurity Specifications, and Scale-Up from Pilot Plant to Gigafactory
  • Battery Manufacturing Process Optimisation, Cost Reduction, and Scalability
